Of Blarney Castle, housed in picturesque gardens, only the tower,
pictured remains, though of course it is most famous as home to the 'Blarney Stone'. The
stone, high up on the castle ramparts which, if you so desire to kiss, you must lie down
(face up) and lean backwards and down, while supported by an assistant.
Why would you want to kiss a dirty stone? Well, legend has it that you will be
given the 'Gift of the Gab', or Eloquence, though some say you will just be able to lie
more convincingly.
Be prepared to queue though, you would be amazed at how many people travel up to
thousands of miles to kiss a stone. |
