Dubai - July 2003

We stopped off at Dubai in the United Arab Emirates for a few days on our way home from Mauritius, however, it was so hot and humid that we didn't spend much time out of the air-conditioned hotel.  When we did we took a boat trip down Dubai Creek in the old town, then stopped off for coffee in the Business District on our way back.

Jumeirah Beach
Jumeirah Beach Hotel We stayed in the Jumeirah Beach Hotel, this fantastic 5* hotel is shaped in the form of a breaking wave.

We didn't go out into the summer heat too much, so we were lucky the rooms all overlook the Burj Al Arab and the Arabian Gulf, also the Hotel has 20 places to eat and drink, restaurants include Italian, Lebanese, German, Argentinean and an English pub.

Of course there's also the Pools, Sports Centre and the Wild Wadi water park.

Burj Al Arab
Burj Al Arab The Burj Al Arab Hotel shaped like a sail and built on a man-made island has become famous as the world's first 7* hotel.

Standing at 321m, it is the world's tallest hotel, all it's rooms are suites, and it boasts an atrium large enough to fit the Statue of Liberty inside.
