Genealogy - Kathy's Family Tree

I've been looking into my family history for a couple of years now - something which I first thought about doing when the last of my grandparents died in 1986.  It was at his funeral that I heard for the first time about his family, and how they had settled in the North East after my Great Grandfather White was posted to Bamburgh as Coastguard.  I knew that the family had originated from the Isle of Wight, but since starting this project I've found that my Great Grandmother's family were from Dorset and Devon.

Eventually, they settled in Newbiggin by the Sea, Northumberland, which is where the remainder of my ancestors had lived for generations.  Granddad White married a Newbiggin girl, Jane Eleanor Armstrong, and my father was their younger son.  This is where it starts getting complicated for my mother's maiden name is also Armstrong, and her mother's maiden name was Armstrong too.   Armstrong is a very common name in Newbiggin!

On these pages I'm hoping to outline my family tree, give the names of the various families and their locations, and add photographs where I can.  If anyone reading this thinks they may have a connection or interest in the same people or places then please contact me.

This is the latest generation of the family. Here are Michael's children, my nephew Charlie and niece, Isabelle, photographed in our garden during Summer 1999 when Charlie was almost 7 and Isabelle was 5. And the very latest addition to the family is baby Daniel, who was born at the end of June 2000.
